Our Bikes

SOPWAMPTOS isn’t only focused on really cool American-made bike parts. Oh no. There are frame builders amongst our motley crew. We’re not going build lugged touring bikes, rigid mountain bikes or cross bikes (per se). While SOPWAMTOS can help you purchase those through one of our skilled builders, it will not have our badging. The SOPWAMPTOS road bike fills the gaps between our frame building brethren as it is a true 4 season machine, is loaded with high quality American-made components, and is priced WAY too competitively with its imported, mass produced counterparts. We might not make wheelbarrow loads of money with this bike, but we are making an elephant sized statement. We can do it, and can do it better.

The specifications on the bike are as follows:

  • Finely crafted TIG welded steel frame designed by Bruce Gordon.
  • A Wound Up Carbon fork with mounts and clearance for fenders.
  • Thompson and Cane Creek steering/seating components.
  • Über cool Bruce Gordon cantilever brakes and room for any 28mm 700c tire with fenders (up to 32mm without fenders).

We have achieved the goal of delivering a fast, smooth riding steel bike that isn’t the noodly boat anchor of yesteryear, provides confidence inspiring road manors, is the envy (admittedly or not) of your carbon spaceship riding road buddies and doesn’t break the bank (relatively). All while made (as much as possible) by manufacturers in your own backyard (US).

The SOPWAMTOS Road Bike will be offered in two configurations (prices TBA as of 11/22/11):

Of course, this is all subject to change as we want to ensure that you get maximum bike for your hard earned dollar. Want different a different drivetrain (Shimano/ Campagnolo) or prefer the feel of carbon over aluminum handlebars? We can accomidate that. Contact us for further pricing details.

What About Sizing?

We are currently putting together the sizing chart, but be assured that we will have frames in 2cm increments, so we can accommodate anyone’s proportions. Sizing is a blend of traditional and modern (since frames do have a slight slope to the toptube)

cool-sounding plan for the all-around road bike. Will eagerly await details. Any ETA at all on when it’ll really become available?

    Hi Rick -
We’re hashing out the details and seeing which manufacturers are truely on-board with the concept. I’m hoping we can have a 90% correct prototype complete in the next month. Don’t worry, we’re not like Apple – leaking details is half the fun.

And don’t worry Eric – there will be a solution no matter how big a blimp you want to ride.

Brandon –>> Thanks for the info. I’ll be checking back. Really excited to see the prototype and/or final product. Very interested in this bike.

      Best,

      Rick

Possible to just get a frame/fork? I would swap my rival group from the serotta.

Of course! Things are a little busy getting ready for the NAHBS show, but shouldn’t be an issue.

On a side note – I still can’t believe how fun that bike is to ride. Easily my hands down favorite of any bike if had.
